Hi I wanted to know if my amd radeon r9 270x will be bottlenecked by my amd phenom ii x4 clocked at 3.90 ghz with 8 gb of ddr3 1333. But last of all I wanted to know if a 600 watt psu is causing problems. The reason I ask all of this is because I am getting terrible fps in furmark and in crysis 3.

Thank you in advance

But did you do a clean uninstall? Because to me, it's mandatory especially if you are switching makers (Nvidia to AMD in your case). Download Display Driver uninstaller from guru 3D and perform a clean uninstall to get rid of the Nvidia Registry keys and such that are most likely conflicting your your AMD GPU and may be the cause of the odd power usage.

If possible, try another PSU and see if you have the same issues after doing a clean uninstall and then installing the latest drivers for your AMD GPU.

on cpu intensive games like crysis 3 it will slightly, that games is very demanding on the cpu side. on other games that rely on the gpu it won't. on what settings are you playing crysis 3?

what is your psu brand? for a 270x 500 watts is more than enough for it.

that is odd anyway fans will only speed up if the temps of the gpu is getting high even if you play gpu intensive games if the temps on your gpu are low the fans will not speed up, your psu is fine looks like it is good quality.

what games are you playing and on what settings? the r9 270x can handle crysis 3 at 1080p ultra but only with fxaa and motion blur off and you will get 30-40 fps average.

Not sure about that, but try ticking a few settings down, I know you want the best, or you can lower the resolution to 720 and then you should be able to max things out and play at a higher FPS as Crysis in general is a brutal game for entry level GPU's and older rigs. At your current resolution, ticking the resolution down to 720 won't make much of a difference, only if you really look hard, lol.

have you checked? my fps only goes down to the 20s if i set the aa to msaa 8x

you could try to disable aa or just pick fxaa.

i played crysis 3 on 3840x1024 resolution all on ultra and fxaa motion blur off and i get a stable 30 fps.

with your resolution and settings you could atleast get 30-40 fps on max settings with fxaa disabled or just plain fxaa.

i upgraded from the gtx 650 to a r9 270x and I uninstalled the old drivers but it seems that my 12 volt rail is dropping to 11.5 when I use the gpu in any way.
