so i just replaced my r7 240, with a rx 560. I've noticed that the rx 560 have no vga instead it have a hdmi, so i bought a vga adapter (vga female to hdmi male), then i boot up windows tried to reinstall amd drivers ( YES i use DDU ) still cannot install amd drivers. I worry about the vga adapter.... *sorry for the bad english

My specs :
Core 2 Duo e8500 3.16 GHz
ASUS P5G41T-M LX
Sapphire RX 560 2 GB
550W PSU (with 6pin)
(and a common vga adapter)

If you can boot the PC and get an image with the RX 560, then the adapter most likely isn't the cause for the problem with the installation.

What driver version are you trying to install? I'd recommend downloading the newest ones directly from AMD.com. If you're trying to install the same driver version that you used for the R7 240, the driver might be too old and not support the RX 560 yet.

Also, check all cables and whether the GPU is plugged into the mainboard slot properly.

umm well my pc recognized it as "standard vga graphic adapter", and yes i've tried to installed the new lastest driver

"standard vga graphic adapter" or "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" are the standard names for when no specific graphics driver is installed for the GPU used, and Windows goes to the default Microsoft driver to be able to show you the system.

If the cabling is correct and the GPU sits properly in its slot, I'm not exactly sure what the problem could be honestly.

Does the driver installer give you an error? Or does it just say that it couldn't detect a compatible graphics adapter? Or does crash? etc.
Knowing this might help finding out the cause of this issue.

at the end of the installment
Radeon Software (17.10.1) has not been installed. Error 1603 - A general error has occured during the installation of the AMD software package
then it gave a log like this

This part seems strange. Why would the package "AMD Software" already exist on your computer? I suggest you use DDU again, then retry to see whther this entry shows up in the log again.

This one either comes up because the display driver wasn't installed or (and this is worth checking it out) because the downloaded installer is faulty and one or more files are corrupted. I'd recommend redownloading the installer once more.

This points at more than one AMD device being present in your system. Do you have an explanation for this?
I doubt it's the case, but if you've installed both graphics cards at the same time, it's no wonder the installation fails. Only the RX 560 must be present in the system 😉

hmm, im 100% that only the rx 560 is installed, because my motherboard only have 1 x16 lane, or maybe theres a fault in the registry key?

OH YEAH btw, i forgot to uninstall the driver (with the r7 240) when i release the r7 240, after that i install the rx 560. maybe that was the problem?

i can't thank you enough, i fixed it THANK YOU VERY MUCH
so what i did is, uninstall with ddu [run in safe mode], redownload radeon live, i've noticed my screen flashed 2 times and then restart pc
