Maybe this is why it's never been a problem for me, personally? I always have VRR enabled in Windows for all my PCs.

True its always on for me.

I tested this and with VVR off I do 50 wattts idle and with it on 6-7 Watts.

IMO VRR should always be on anyway but an 81% savings? That sounds like botched drivers and/or firmware at play.
