I am glad that AMD considered the fact that not everyone wants some fancy NPU. It may be nice to have, but if one needs to pay extra for it, then at least they also have the option to choose a cheaper (hopefully the case) without it.

I don't think this will be that common. It wasn't done with the Phoenix 7040 lineup (not counting the Phoenix2 die). And now they are moving to a "Ryzen AI" naming scheme.

The fanciness of this particular NPU is limited by the lack of TOPS. It's well under the Copilot+ 40 TOPS requirement, so chopping it off isn't a big deal.
