AMD RX 480 Radeon Settings crashing in games

I recently bought an RX 480 to replace my 3 year old R9 270x as it has been playing up recently and I felt it was about time to upgrade. I used the AMD driver uninstaller and installed the 480 and the newest drivers. The computer recognises the 480 and generally works however whenever i try to play any 3D games (i'v tested CSGO, Overwatch, GTA5, Distance and a few others) i can navigate menus but the games will crash as soon as i get to actual gameplay. Specifically the game will freeze on the first frame of gameplay, my monitors will reset and i will get a message along the lines of "Radeon Settings: Host application has stopped working" or "Rendering device has been lost". I have tried installing various older driver versions and even reinstalled Windows 10 however the problem persisted. I also tried reinstalling my 270x and that still works so i'm not sure whether this is a driver problem, card problem or some other problem.

I should also mention that after installing the 480 for the first time i opened up Overwatch and managed to play it for around 10 minutes before it crashed, since then i haven't been able to play for any amount of time in any 3D game. It seems however that i can play 2D games fine.

I can't seem to find anyone else online with a solution to this specific problem so i'd appreciate some help, thanks.

Edit: Just ran Furmark and Heaven Benchmark. Heaven Benchmark crashed upon opening however Furmark ran fine getting around 70 fps average on the 1920X1080 preset if this helps at all.

Edit 2: Hearthstone also works with some infrequent hitching.

Specs:

OS - Windows 10 Pro N 64 bit
GPU - Sapphire NITRO+ RX480 8GB OC
CPU - AMD FX 6300 Black Edition 6 Core
Motherboard - Asus M5A97
RAM - 8gb DDR3 HyperX
PSU - Corsair 600w

Thanks for the reply. I would send it back but at the moment i'm leaning towards this being a software problem as i only seem to have this problem with 3D applications, with the exception so far being Furmark which runs fine. I will probably return it if I don't get a solution in the next couple days.

Just tried Hearthstone and that also works mostly fine with some infrequent hitching. I'm kinda stumped at this point.

I had the same problems with rx480 GTR from xfx the solution is simple undervolt the card stock was at 1118v took it down to 1081 at 1300mhz and works fine no crash no issues what so ever since I did that to all titles like witcher 3 bf1 forza horizon 3 need for speed 2015 and RFTR
all those play at high/ultra now np.
Atm I use the latest drivers the problem was noticeable with all the drivers I tested before undervolt nothing worked so its not drivers issue its more likely have to do with power from psu and the ability from the motherboard to handle the extra power some rx480 ask from the pci slot from factory in some low end mb. I guess people with good mb psu 600w silver or above don't have the problem to undervolt the gpu. As I said for me was the only solution that worked all the things mentioned above did nothing.

Plus by undervolt you will get better temperature less power consumption as long you undervolt and still be able to hit the stock or slightly overclock you are good to go if you are not sure how to undervolt there are few vid that you can watch at youtube.
Btw synthetic benchmarks may not cause the gpu to crash at stock speeds or slightly overclock I had mine at 1430mhz did time spy / firestrike runs Valey/ heaven with np and when I loaded witcher 3 or any game at stock speeds not even OC in anything above high I had crash.
Now things are perfect and I'm rly happy with my gpu.
Undervolt rly helps.

why the hassle when the product still under warranty. Faulty product still faulty product. OP did pay the price in full, so why bother
