AMD RX 570 performs worse then R7 360 on A8 7600?

So my friend has an amd a8-7600 quad core pc with previously a 2Gb r7 360 in it, he swapped it with a 4gb rx 570 and it actually performs worse in some games(GTA V runs at 24fps on high while the r7 360 did 37 on high, for example). He has 8gb of ddr3 ram, some Asrock ultra durable FM2+ motherboard, and an AMD A8-7600 Elite Quad Core APU.

You should convince him to trade that RX 570 for your GTX 1050. I'm sure both systems would perform better. RX 570 is too much for an AMD A8. I'm kidding somewhat about the swap, but it would be interesting to find out.

You don't mention his power supply, the PSU is kind of important. Also you need to install new drivers after uninstalling the old ones. It's true that the new card is more power than an APU like that A8 can use, but his performance shouldn't go down.

most likely CPU bottleneck. happen to me long time ago when upgrading GPU (from GTS250 to GTX460) for my E7500. try overclock the that APU.

he has a 450 watt PSU, and his CPU is non-overclockable. He will be upgrading to a ryzen but for now our question is, at the same settings, the r7 360 BEATS the RX 570... how?

as i say: CPU bottleneck. that's why we don't simply pair weak CPU with faster GPU. if the GPU is too powerful for the CPU to keep up you could end up getting negative result over much weaker GPU. i have first hand experience on this in the past. good thing for me back then intel still did not restrict overclocking to specific CPU only. so overclocking my CPU almost eliminate the problem.

if overclocking is not an option the only way to get better performance on that 570 is by using much more powerful CPU.

If he wants to sell it yes. Definitely invest in a newer CPU, either Ryzen or Intel 8th-gen Core i series. He'll have to buy new motherboard and DDR4 RAM also.
