Hey so I don't really know much of PCs any more I know how to build one but not really which CPU is the best right now. So I am planing to upgrade my CPU this Year I currently have an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, and I would like to get a Ryzen 9 for Premiere, After Effects and 3D Modelling etc in the Future. But I don't really know if I should get a Ryzen 9 3900 or 3950 or even a Ryzen 9 5000. I am planing to use my current Mainboard until next year it supports Ryzen 9 and 5000 Generation. I have a RTX 2070 Super 32 GB Ram and an AIO for the CPU. Thanks for any answer as I said I can Build a Computer and use my Programs but I am really not in that whole what CPU is the best thing any more

Solution
Depends on what you can afford essentially.

Ryzen 3000 < Ryzen 5000 in terms of performance in the same model.

So a 3900X will be slower than a 5900X
3950X has more cores, so depending on the workload that might work out be faster than the 5900X, but I doubt it.

5950X is practically unbuyable, even when it is in stock, but certainly the best budget workstation CPU out there. No news yet on Threadripper Zen 3 CPUs, so you are stuck with dual channel for now. And sadly the old Zen2 Threadrippers are basically outclassed by the 5000 series chips, despite the lack of multiple memory channels.

The Ryzen 9 5000 is better. However, while your current motherboard and cooler may be fine for a Ryzen 5 2600, the Ryzen 9 requires more power, which a VRM not built for extended loads may handle it, and a much beefier cooler, which I'd argue with AIOs, no smaller than 240mm will suffice.

OK I have a 240 mm AIO, so that would work I think and the Mainboard is only temporarily until I can afford a better one, but my current CPU is just plain to slow for me.

OK, thank you I think the Ryzen 9 5900x will it be, and it's not really that more expensive than a Ryzen 9 3900x only 100 Euros more.

Which motherboard do you have?

Also note that upgrades to support newer processors are one way. And depending on motherboard, you'll lose support for older processors. So keep that in mind if you wanted to recycle the board for something.

About 30 days ago I paid 299.xx for a 5600x and $159.xx for an Asus Prime X570-P.
I waited until the stock was there and prices were somewhat fair (at least MSRP) Be patient and keep your eyes open. Total upgrade of the two + 32 gigs of was $800.00. Don't get ripped off..
