Hi,

So I was looking into getting either the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or the Intel I5-8400 to pair with my RX 580 8GB. I use my PC to mainly game, I often play on my Oculus Rift. I also tend to play games and while playing games, tab out of them and watch videos while the game is running. I sometimes record games but I don't stream. I really don't not what to go for here as they are pretty similar I have heard. I am pulling my hair out right now please help ASAP lol. Thanks!

While in normal gameplay the difference between the 2600 and 8400 will be marginal at most, when recording you'll really see the 2600 start to shine over the 8400, so that's what I'd go with. Ryzen also leaves you with a better platform, better upgradability, etc., and, if you get into other heavily threaded tasks in the future, you'll be glad that you didn't go with the i5.
