Hello.
I'll be honest, I'm new to building PCs and the more I read about compatibility between the AMD CPU and the memory, the more confused I am. So I'd like to ask a simple (I hope) question: will G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x8GB, 3000MHz, CL16 (F4-3000C16D-16GTZR) work well with AMD Ryzen 5 2600X and a Gigabyte X470 AORUS GAMING 7 WIFI?
It is listed in the mobo's QVL, but there's this problem I've been reading, that CL16 memory won't let me have this 3000MHz. Is it true?

Solution
Here is the memory controller capabilities. This is the minimum it should handle. Most can do slightly better. My older 1600X is fine with Corsair Vengeance at 3000MHz, for instance. And the 2nd gen Ryzen is even better.

A lot depends on the motherboard capabilities. My first (MSI) board had trouble running the RAM at 3000MHz, my current (Aus TUF) board runs it easily at 3000MHz.
