AMD in it to make money fully understand that, however, the 1xxx when 2xxx released they did not seem to "drop" much price point and the 3xx motherboards vs 4xx (which were SUPPOSED to be lower cost to produce so therefore at a lower MSRP launch day) also did not seem to materialize.

it must be all the BS disco light show going on these days, lower to produce, they jack on all kinds of BS lights (which more oft then not the software to "control it" is not as non fuss work without a hitch as should be") and they use as an "excuse" to price higher even when the boards are that much cheaper to produce *facepalm*

AMD has done quite well with what Ryzen and ryzen + are (stupid naming on the "generation 2" which they title Ryzen 2 on 12nm, instead of simply calling it Ryzen + (12nm) to make sure that when the ACTUAL Ryzen 2 launches (7nm) they do not have to go calling it all kinds of wonky naming changes.

nice price point NOW I suppose.

I really hope they hammer their AIB and mobo partners as well as resellers to be more attentive to price points..example, no way an MSI Gaming X or Armor MK II is "worth" on average of $100 more then a comparable "other" board, are they good, yes, but not $100 better either.

anyways.

my point of contention is, when Ryzen 2xxx generation launched, AMD should have tried to put larger price and maybe clock speed difference between them to better promote "for X more you can have Y and Z reason to justify it vs generation 1xxx" not enough segregation IMHO, where the price points "were" justifiable there still seemed to be either too much or not quite enough distance +/- as there could have been.

2700x is much better direct reason to buy it compared to say 1800x over 1700x was, but they seemed to have maybe not quite thought out the price points as well as they could/should have and likely could have done a wee bit more clock speed gaps between them all (that is from Ryzen 2200 to Ryzen 2700x, just some weird clock speed gaps for minimum and "boost" numbers likely they could have broadened it a wee bit more or something.

Cannot wait to see what 7nm for cpu, 5xx (or whatever) for the motherboards and 6xx (polaris refresh) bring to the table for 4q2018-1q2019 bring to the table price/performance wise, maybe it will give enough time for MSFT to settle down and stop being foolish for nothing as well ^.^
