Hello everyone,

Can someone tell me which one of these two CPUs is the better one?
Is the 3.4 base clock really a substiantial decrease from the 3.7 that the 5600X has?

thank you,
nick

Ryzen 7 5700X has 2 more cores and 4 more threads over Ryzen 5 5600X. Other than that, performance wise, both are equal.

Depends on your usage case. If you play games, 6c/12t Ryzen 5 would be a bit better since it has higher base frequency. 8c/16t Ryzen 7 would be a bit better in 3D render and the like (where more cores/threads are needed). But since both can boost up to 4.6 Ghz, both are still essentially equal.

Personally, i'd get R7 5700X since it is more energy efficient (3.4 Ghz base) and has more cores/threads. Minor aspects would be 4x extra PCI-E lanes over R5 but also 5C less on Tjmax (max operating temp, R7: 90C, R5: 95C).

When you only game then R5 would do fine. R7 makes a bit more sense when you stream at the same time when gaming, and/or watching someone else stream when you're gaming (R7 is better at multitasking).

And yes, max what R7 can operate at, is 90C. While R5 can sustain up to 95C. Still, don't push CPU over 80C. Instead, get better CPU cooler/airflow inside your PC.
