I'm upgrading my system for an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 to an AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT. Installed the Ryzen 7 but the MB will not POST. My MB is an MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max and I have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. Noted that the processor box stated that Discrete Graphics Card Required. Is there any way to make the processor work without the purchase of a new graphics card?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Thread title says Ryzen 7 5800XT, while your thread body says Ryzen 7 3800XT, which one is it?

Is there any way to make the processor work without the purchase of a new graphics card?
You don't need a new GPU if you have an RTX2060 to work with. Just make sure your chipset drivers are on the latest version. Following that, the motherboard is on the latest BIOS version(i.e, 7B86vHN at the time of writing). Clear CMOS, then swap processors.

Sorry for the typo. The box list it as AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT,

Your current 3600 does not have any included graphics support either. The 5800xt should work with your RTX2060.

Agreeing with Lutfij, if your BIOS is outdated, the issue may be due to this. The Ryzen 7 5800xt was released well after your motherboard came out, therefore that board needs to be updated in order to recognize the newer CPU and properly initialize the system.

Thankfully your motherboard supports a feature called BIOS flashback, which will allow you to update the BIOS without having to reinstall the Ryzen 5 3600, even though you are not able to get any display to the monitor. Follow these steps to install the latest BIOS onto your board. You will need a flash drive and another computer. https://www.msi.com/support/technical_details/MB_Flash_BIOS_Button

Thanks for the follow up. I placed the 3600 back and updated the BIOS. I have a MSI B350 Gaming Plus Max. I checked the compatibility of the 5800 and it is good. You are right I also think it was a BIOS problem. The BIOS Ver is 7B86VHN from MSI is the newest one. So ordered some thermal paste to arrive, then correct the issue. Thanks for the information. Just needed to confirm things before I start pulling things apart.
