Hi,

Okay guys, it appears that AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs based on the "Zen 4 core" architecture have started appearing online at some retailers. All four CPUs were listed by a Canadian retailer, PC-Canada, with a preliminary price list. Currently it shows Out of Stock, which is obvious.

Though, I'm not sure why the retailer has posted these placeholder prices this early. These CPUs are not launching till mid of next month though.

Anyways, the prices were spotted by Momomo_US and list the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X, and the Ryzen 5 7600X processors in both Tray and Non-Cooler SKUs. Following are the chips along with their preliminary prices by the retailer, subject to change:
These prices are definitely on the higher side of the price bracket, but this is to be expected since we are looking at early listings. Though, according to some old previous rumors, especially the 8 and 6-core models might end up being cheaper than their predecessors, but the high-core count variants within the Ryzen 9 lineup may cost higher.

"Note that Canadian prices include anything between five and 15 percent sales tax and electronics and computer parts appear to be priced a fair bit higher in Canada than the US on average. As such, these prices should only be taken as an indication of what the retail price in Canada might end up being and not what the actual MSRP will land at, when AMD decides to launch these CPUs. Currently the retail date is expected to be on the 15th of September", via TPU.

Comparing the prices to the existing processors from the same retailer, the Ryzen 9 7950X is priced $158 CAD higher than the Ryzen 9 5950X. The Ryzen 9 7900X on the other hand is priced $13 CAD lower than the Ryzen 9 5900X, the Ryzen 7 7700X is priced $216 CAD higher than the Ryzen 7 5700X, and lastly the Ryzen 5 7600X is priced at $15 CAD lower than the Ryzen 5 5600X.

With that being said, we should definitely wait for an official confirmation from AMD, but we can at least expect some details on the 29th of August, 2022, when AMD will hopefully announce these processors. :)

Some UPDATE, via TPU.

Possible launch SEP pricing of AMD's Ryzen 7000 series "Zen 4" desktop processors leaked to the web by Wccftech, which appear to be similar to those of the Ryzen 5000 "Zen 3" at launch. AMD will launch a slim set of four SKUs in its first round of these processors—the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X (16-core/32-thread), followed by the second-best Ryzen 9 7900X (12-core/24-thread), the Ryzen 7 7700X (8-core/16-thread), and the mid-range Ryzen 5 7600X (6-core/12-thread).

Apparently, the series debuts with the Ryzen 5 7600X at $299, or the same SEP of the Ryzen 5 5600X at launch. The Ryzen 7 7700X launches at $449. The Ryzen 9 7900X comes in at $549, and the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X at $799, which again, is identical to that of the 5950X.

Besides processors, motherboard vendors are expected to launch their first Socket AM5 motherboards, debuting with the AMD X670E and X670 chipsets.

There's talk of mid-range chipsets such as the B650 and B650E, but we haven't seen any confirmed products show up on motherboard vendors' websites, yet. Pre-launch pricing for the X670E and X670 put them at a significant premium over the current Socket AM4 flagship boards based on the X570.
  • Ryzen 9 7950X - $799 US
  • Ryzen 9 7900X - $549 US
  • Ryzen 7 7700X - $449 US
  • Ryzen 5 7600X - $299 US
AMD Ryzen 7000 "Zen 4" Desktop CPU Prices Leaked: Ryzen 9 7950X For $799 US, Ryzen 9 7900X For $549 US, Ryzen 7 7700X For $449 US, Ryzen 5 7600X For $299 US (wccftech.com)

Engineering, layouts, architecture etc pretty much everything to do with the cpus is already almost finalized, there aren't going to be any major changes at all. This was accomplished 6 months ago or more. Intel isn't really working on 13th gen, the AIB's have the designs, parameters and have had them for a while now, Intel is pushing much harder on 14th gen. That's how it works.

Any release date chicanery is power plays or marketing strategy at this point, maybe just holding back to get enough stock, enough interest to flood markets and not run out of stock etc.

That's why Intel and Amd really don't brutalize ppl 'leaking' ES cpus, the assumption being that the opposing engineers already know enough or can deduce enough to give a pretty well educated guess at performance levels.

Zen4 - done, 13th gen - done, prototypes of Zen5 and 14th gen already in manufacturing as the layouts and architectural processes were done last year. Those ppl aren't fools, they are 2-3 years ahead of whatever most others are thinking. The drawings and architecture for 15th gen and Zen6 are already floating around in the inner circles.

There's other factors, of course, such as contracts with TSMC and/or Samsung, Intels due dates for their American fab facilities, the market shares, what Sony is doing etc and don't expect the Truth from anyone about release dates and reasons, there's always hidden agendas.

It will take long enough for systems build on rl or zen4 to already be on their way out by the time they come out let alone the devs start making games specifically for them.
People where saying that those jaguar consoles would make the dual cores disappear and except for a very few games that have coding problems they can still run pretty much any game, badly sure but they can.
New Spider-Man. PS4 game, ramped up for PS5, and a pc killer, even at 1080p with a 3080+. Amd got the short end of the stick there, a 12400 dances all over anything except the 5800X3D. I doubt this'll be the last venture into using what consoles can do, that pc's can struggle with.

Might look terrible and be considered unplayable by most but, hd620 and smooth enough.
Just because it's heavy with all the eye candy enabled doesn't mean that you have to run all of the eye-candy.
A normal lowish-end system will still run it fine because at the core the game is still only using the resources of 6 jaguar cores.

Totally agree on that lol. My daughter plays minecraft occasionally on her laptop, so it's normal to see those 'graphics' when I peek over her shoulder when she decides she needs my pc to test out a new mod that's a little much for that older laptop of hers. Then one day I let her turn on Ray Tracing. The stream of OMFG's lasted hours...

It's an absolutely massive difference.

Consoles are relatively cheap when compared to a halfway decent pc, so if paying more for a pc gets you less eye-candy than you get with a console, there's a problem there imho. The purpose of spending so much for a pc is the ability to get More eye-candy than is possible with a console, smoother game play etc.

What I find strange is the Jaguar cpus were AMD, yet it's 12thgen Intel that's seriously benefitting from the revamp when a 12400 is topping a 5800x/5900x/5950x performance.

It's still x86 it doesn't have anything different except for the topology, it uses at least one but mostly two cores for the OS and the other two cores on that dye have very high latency to the other dye so devs mainly only use the four cores on one dye to do all of the heavy lifting.
So for those types of games, whatever CPU can run 4 threads the fastest will run the games the fastest.
