I am looking for laptops to play Total War games and I see now a good amount of them have CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX. However it has been said that AMD are not good CPU for Total War games and unfortunately I can not find information, neither benchmarks or videos of Total War games with this CPU so I don´t know if worths spending 3000€ in a laptop with a CPU that I don´t know how it will work. It´s being harder to find laptops with Intel i7 or i9 CPUs.

What is your opinion? Any feedback will be appreciated.

From who?

The only way for an AMD CPU to not be good at any x86 application is if it heavily relies on AVX512, which is the only instruction set extension AMD didn't bother with and no game uses (hell, I don't think any game touches the AVX instruction set).

I suppose the other way is to ping the CPU ID and deliberately nerf the performance if it detects an AMD CPU, but that would be shady on so many levels and not worth the PR bomb if anyone finds out.
