[SOLVED] AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Idle CPU Frequency

Just built a new PC with a Gigabyte B550 Motherboard and AMD Ryzen 9 5900X CPU. Had to flash the BIOS to get the OS to load, but everything is running fine now.

Installed all the Windows 10 Drivers from their website and also have the latest BIOS.

My old Intel Core i7 CPU use to idle at around 900 Mhz when nothing was running. Even with the Windows Power Management set for maximum power saving, the AMD CPU idles at around 3.29 Ghz.

Is this normal when there are no applications running? I thought it would go into a lower CPU frequency.

Maybe something I need to change int he BIOS???

I installed AMD Ryzen Master, and it showed the CPU was averaging around 333 Mhz when idle. I guess Windows Task Manager is misreporting information. I feel better now. I also ran Prime95 and it boosted all the way up as it should, but CPU temps remained where they need to be.

Ryzen Master in Basic view shows "Effective frequency" meaning what it would be like if it was single core CPU.
In Advanced view you can see state and frequency of every core. At true idle most cores would be in "Sleep" state, inactive.
