AMD Stuttering any other solution?

I own a 7970 but i get really bad stuttering in about 90% of the games i play unless i use Radeon Pro!

Its the first AMD card ive had, it runs great once i enable this but games such as Dota, D3, TL2 and Skyrim to name a few will stutter when i scroll unless radeon pro is running in the background!

No ingame settings can fix this issue.

I thought it was my monitor or something causing issues but no Nvidia card will do this, ive tried my brothers 580 and 660 which run all these games smooth as butter.

Have you tried enabling vsync? Also it seems that radeon pro solves your issue, why do you not want to run it in the background?

Yes vsync does not fix the problem, only the dynamic vsync built into radeon pro fixes it.

Because radeon pro causes issues in some games and i shouldnt have to use a 3rd party to make things playable.

This has been happening forever ive used every driver going.

Im positive its linked to frame pacing as thats what the dynamic vsync does.

I think its mostly linked to DX 9 games also but not 100% sure.

I will never get another AMD card from now on, if it wasnt for radeon pro id have swapped out for a 680!

Im just wondering if any AMD uses have a fix other than radeon pro but i know most of them use it because of this lol.

I just couldnt pass up the spec difference of the 7970 vrs the 680!!

Maybe it is just a faulty GPU. Did you try to RMA it?

Frame pacing issues can happen when the FPS exceeds the monitors refresh. Using a a NVidia gtx680 I actually get quite a bit of it in Diablo 3, unless I turn on vsync. You could try to reduce the performance by forcing AA and AF to max levels in drivers. this should drop the fps and reduce the stuttering. If not, then I've got nothing else.

What is your CPU? Most people don't have these problems with a 7970

I have Vsync on so it cant render more than 60 frames, with Radeon Pro Dynamic Vsync does something to eliminate this issue which nothing else can, its doable but like i say its stupid having to use a 3rd party to solve the issue.

The CPU is not the problem, as i have explained ive tried these games on a 580 and 660 which are both Nvidia cards and its smooth as butter.

My CPU is a Ivy I5 clocked to 4.4 stable.

Ive tried clocking my GPU to 1100 core but theres no difference, the card doesnt struggle with the game as it barely hits 100% usage the issue is to do with the drivers not producing the frames at a smooth pace, and this is what the dynamic vsync does on Radeon Pro.

Radeon Pro is an amazing program but it does cause glitches in games aswell which is why im trying to find an alternative fix for these issues.

To any AMD user who wants to test this, so you know what i mean, the easiest game is Skyrim, everyone has it and it takes 2 seconds to see what im talking about.

Look at the floor and walk, youll see every few steps theres a stutter, now download Radeon Pro, just try the default global settings and run the test again, now there will be no stutter at all.

When the global settings dont work you will need to enable Dynamic Vsync and this cures more severe cases of the stuttering.
