Ok just fired up my new rig today but my cpu temp is running at 54c! Is this common for amd? Also what should my vcore be set at for best performance (currently at 1.77)?Just in case you want to know the system temps at 33c. (all readings are taken from bios)

AMD 1200 266fsb
cooler master DP5-6I11A = HSF!
crucial 256meg 2100 ddr
Giga-Byte GA7DXR

It worries me being that high !

seems a bit high for idle, what hsf do you have? as for "performane"- this isnt related to the voltage, the voltage is related to stability (and heat)

If your using the stock cooler I would get a new one. I spent about $30US on my GlobalWin FOP38 and it sits idle at 38C depending on room temp.

You also might want to look at your case cooling. Just make sure it is adaquate. If you bring down the case temp the proc temp will to.

Guys my HSF is listed there lol. Nah it's not stock , my local guy uses em on all his amds . he's having no trouble with them. I tried reseating it but it didn't change anything . On another note i have a board component that gigabyte seems to have forgotten about on their driver cd. It's called "PCI System Management Bus" in system info. Any clue as to what this is ? Can it maybe be affecting the CPU temp?

OK fixed the driver issue, reseated the HSF again, and added a front case fan. Still running hot! Any other thoughts before i switch HSF's ?

what do you have for exhaust fans?
im running 2 80mm exhaust fans and one 80mm intake.
Temps are about 37C idle and around 39C under load.

i have a AMD xp 1700 (1.47)
you might also want to try getting some arctic silver thermal compound.
