Hi everybody,

I've got some questions about upgrading my pc from AMD to Intel.

My current pc specs are:

- AMD FM2 A8-6600K Quad Core 3,9GHz
- MSI A78M-E35
- Crucial Ballistix Sport 12GB DDR3-1600
- Nvidia GTX 750 Ti 2GB

As said before i want to upgrade to Intel. Is it possible to change my motherboard and processor while keeping my 12 GB ram?

I am thinking of buying:
- MSI B250M PRO-VD
- Intel Core i5-4690, 3,5 GHz

Maybe you guys have some other suggenstions.

Greetings,

Nicolas

1| Mind sharing how you've loaded out the rams in your current system? Did you mix and match rams to get to a cumulative 12GB's of ram? Got a link to the sticks of ram?

2| It's clearly stated in your motherboard's detailed specs page that the board you've chosen for the Intel platform will only accept DDR4 memory. So in this regard, you should look at DDR4-2133MHz or 2400MHz kits of ram(whichever is cheaper). SO no, DDR3 won't go on that board.

3| The processor you've chosen is not compatible with the socket on the motherboard. The processor is based on Haswell architecture and is on the LGA 1150 socket. The motherboard is based on the B250 chipset with an LGA 1151 socket and support the 7th generation, Kabylake architecture or processors that are from the Intel Core iX-7xxx series.

So if you want an i5+the B250, you should look at an i5-7600 or lower+DDR4 ram.

Thanks for replying! I'm going with:

ASROCK FATAL1TY Z97X KILLER
NTELCORE I5-4460 4RD / 3.2-3.4GHZ / QUAD CORE / LGA1150

Thank you for replying! Gave me a good idea about if i should go for new ram or not. I'm going to stick with my ddr3 ram and buying a compatible motherboard and intel processor. Thank you a lot!
