Onje question, I am thinking about jumping from AMD cpu and Motherboard to intel cpu and motherboard. I am running the MSI KT3 Ultra 2 with the AMD1800 XP. I would like to go to the ASUS P4B5331845E motherboard and a Intel P4 2.0 cpu. How do you think I will fair with Intel P4 over the AMD 1800to 2400 cpu and Mobo. Please let me know what you all think. Thanks Bruce

Why you would like to update from XP1800 to P42000 or XP2400? You will barely note difference.

I suggest you to wait about 4 or 6 months untill the new technologies appear. In that time you'll be able to buy a P4 3.0 GHz for a more "decent" price.

I have to agree with CMRvet. unless you were going to upgrade to something substancial greater speed, don't bother. I am buying a system now, but only doing so because my current machine is a PII 400 (not bad since I'm running Linux, but not good for a gaming system or anything new). This will be to "hold me over" until I can get my hands on the x86 64. Personally, I foresee a great jump in front side bus speeds in the next year or two, especially with AMD diverging to do their own thing. Hell, if the Playstation 3 is really going to be as powerful as they say, I'll get that instead. ;-)
