[SOLVED] AMD upgrade query

I have a desktop with a Gigabyte M68MT-S2 MB and a AMD Athlon 11 X2 255 3100mhz CPU, can I upgrade the CPU with a n AMD FX4100 Quad Core CPU? and if so would the MB need a bios update (Given that its all pretty old nowadays!)

Depends on the revision you have!
GA-M68MT-S2 (rev. 3.1) supports FX4100 with Bios FB
GA-M68MT-S2 (rev. 1.3) does NOT support FX4100 or any AM3+ CPU for that matter!

I checked and I have SM Bios version 2.4, can I update the Bios?

Check the revision of the motherboard it is usually written on the motherboard! That is the more important part!
