[citation][nom]memadmax[/nom]How about some benchmarks instead?[/citation]
Because this is an Ad site, they do not do benchmarks here
/sarcasm

you dunce, they will have benchmarks as soon as the NDA lifts, or they have a product to test! You think they will let one of the potentially largest game changing CPUs go un-benched?

An i7 3750 has 4 cores at 3.5 plus turbo and and HT, and it only draws 77 watts. Of course it costs a bit more around 350 vs 250. I have been an AMD guys since I got my amd-k6 233mhz 15 years ago so I am hoping they can pull a rabit out of thier hat.

[citation][nom]cats_paw[/nom]125W? if true we got a monstrosity there... Dont even want to start thinking how much will it draw when overclocked.[/citation]
125W has been the norm for AMD's highest end for a while. Intel has had 130W for its extreme processors. Sandy Bridge had 95W and Ivy Bridge 77W so. It's quite the difference between the two manufactures.

If that 8350 has anywhere near that 20% increase promised, and is still a 125w tdp, an upgrade will be a no brainer. I hope AMD doesn't dissapoint this time.

AMD, I want you to succeed, so good luck. That being said, if your chips are comparatively crippled in Windows 7 by scheduling issues that are resolved in Windows 8, you are very unlikely to get my money.

I agree with CaedenV, I am rooting for AMD because the closer they get to Intel in performance, the more Intel is going to have to step their game up. Vishera and Trinity look very promising, woot competition!

When Intel's Haswell comes out, it will still be 77w while gaining 10% more performance.

The FX 8350 will need to equal the i7-3770 for anyone to take notice... At $250, to only equal the $215~230 i5-3570/K CPUs ($190 locally) with a hotter CPU without PCIe 3.0 or native USB3.0 support just won't impress anyone.

Actually, PCIe 3.0 missing will always be a major hit on AMD. I'm not sure why they are even bothering with this?

I'm a huge fan of AMD. Even though I don't own any of their new products. I NEEDED performance so was stuck with Intel. I would to anything to get the performance i needed with and AMD chip.

What, 125W is abnormal? Both of my Phenom II X4's are 125W. It's not like this is anything new, but it seems that you probably are...lol

Besides that, I am really hoping that AMD gets it right this time. I bought my 990FX AM3+ motherboard specifically for bulldozer and because of the last debacle, I ended up just getting a Phenom II X4 965 because my Phenom II X4 940 doesn't support AM3. Come on AMD! Get it right this time! Give me a reason to buy a new CPU!

Windows8 runs pretty smooth, even on rather old 5year tech. But Win8 metro interface/retarded charms makes Windows8 a worthless OS.

*I* will be buying my Win7pro-64bit next week or so for my next PC upgrade... $140. When I could simply use one of my 3 dusty WinXP licences to get Win8Pro for $40... Windows8 isn't worth $40 to me... thats a night of drinking at a club in which I'll get something out of it.

$175 for 6 core....
for that price, these better not choke single gfx cards or bottleneck cfx/sli setups...
if the 8 cores sell for $180 and lower.... not that i am expecting such low prices at launch... :)

I am fearful that real world performance won't justify these prices. It's not that they're high, it's that we know Intel kicks butt at those prices. AMD needs to offer similar performance if they want to charge the same amount; I'm not optimistic, and history seems to be on my side.

That $250 FX CPU may just surpass the i5-2500, at best. Really, just take an 8120 ($160) and overclock it to 4400Mhz and it should equal the $250 FX 8350 CPU... guessing.

Guess we'll know in a week or so.

I still feel like these are not really 8 core processor, but more like 4 core + processors.

I am still not trading in my Phenom II 6 core for one of these........ which is sad.

The Windows 8 changes he's referring to have absolutely nothing to do with Intel. It has to do with how Windows was scheduling threads and not taking into account that BD chips really have half as many cores as advertised. The performance gain comes from scheduling threads on different modules to help alleviate BD's crippling floating point performance problems.

by the looks of trinity piledriver cores, I doubt a 4.4 clocked 8120 would equal the 8350. AMD has undoubtably fixed alot of its design flaws, and this new 8 core should overclock like a beast. Im quite confident that this round of cpus will be much better than the last.

Looks like AMD is back on the move, if this 8350 stays between the 2600k and the 3770k it's gonna be a major goal and an excellent gaming processor.I'm happy I didn't have to go to Intel
