amd vs intel

Solution

all of the FX cpu's higher numbered than a 8350 are not good

overpriced, hot junk

a locked i7 3770 is easily better than all of them
No, the best bang for your buck on AMD is the 8350. Anything above isn't much better. If you need something performing better than an 8350, go with intel. AMD is comparable to the i3 - i5 range on intel.

Anything in the FX series that's above the 8350 is basically just a modified factory overclocked 8350. They run hot and consume massive amounts of power and are still limited by the low IPC of the FX series, meaning that even though it runs at above 4GHz doesn't mean you get to use all 4GHz to perform instructions, some of it is taken up by internal functions, more so than Intel. I recommend the 3770

i5 4460>8350

here is all of this summed up
the amd fx 4300 and 4350 is the present lowest end line
the 6300 is good on motherboards that have weaker chipsets like a 760g and the 6350 is not worth it as a 6300 can be overclocked to match it i personaly thin the 6300 is the best and really only great cpu amd has right now that i would by as it would run on ANY am3+ motherboard well
the fx 8300 is not much better than a 6300 as it has two extra cores they are almost never used in games and such
the fx 8320 is ok for the money but needs a better motherboard to run and can be overclocked to perform like the 8350 makeing the 8350 not really worth it
the 8370 is the only one im not 100% about so some one else help me on that
and teh 9000s meaning the 9370 and 9590 are basicly pre-overclocked 8350s even if they are not the same chip a overclocked 8350 is about equal to them

What does pricing have to do with how a CPU performs? :??:

were i live the prices are
4300=85$ so its ok for the price
6300=95$ this is why i think its a good cpu overclocked it can be nearly as good as the i3 6300 which is 25-30$ more
8300=120$ not worth it
8320=115$ good price for that but intel is better in that range as it needs a good motherboard as well
8350=145$ overclock a 8320 as it will be just as good
8370=170$ overclock a 8320 or 8350
9370=195$ not worth it overclock 8320/50
9590=225$ NOT WORTH IT (look above)

I've seen Newegg offer the FX-8300 for $99.99 quite often. Microcenter in the U.S. has the FX-8320E for $89.99 in store only. Either one of those would be worth it over an FX-6300 for the same price (or at best ten bucks less). Newer games and some productivity apps are starting to use as many cores/threads as you can give them.

Yeah I bought one from Micro Center for that price. Not a bad CPU at all.

Yep. I have one in a secondary PC (got a free motherboard and needed a CPU to stick in it). Have it OC'd to 4.4 Ghz. I was pleasantly surprised for $90.

yeah if its that price its worth it
