Which Card is best "GTX 960" or R9 270x" for i-5 4590

I really can't recommend either. I would rather you go for a R9 280 or a R9 280x as it actually beats the GTX 960. But if you really have to choose between the two, go for the R9 270x. Save a few bucks cause the fps gained isn't worth the extra money.

gtx 960 will perform slightly better than the 270x - but on that price range i would look onto the r9 280x which beats the gtx 960 on any game title.

R9 280 is the best choice around 200$ price range. I'll suggest you go with that. As for 4590 its a great CPU that can handle any GPU.

Get the R9 280x though, the 128-bit wide interface on 960 will cost you in game performance.The 3 gigs of VRAM should be healthy for now,assuming you're not Ultra gaming all the way.
