Hello, I've just put together a new PC and i seem to have an issue with the AMD cooler. I had a pretty rough time installing the cooler the brackets that clip on to the board seemed almost too short even though they should be fully compatible . I finally managed to get it in but locking the cooler was a bit too rough for my comfort. The cooler seems to have different lever then I've seen in any of the videos.

The PC works but the CPU cooler is definitely way louder than the advertised 32db and emitting a weird noise also the CPU is running at 65 - 75 C hitting upwards of 80 C without any major workload ( just browsing ). Also in the Asus Bios im getting a CPU fan error but the Q-Fan setup and controls work fine.

Anyone have a similar experience with these or any advice ?

Specs :
Mobo: Asus X370-F
PSU: Evolveo 650W Gold
CPU: Ryzen 1600x
Cooler : AMD Wraith Max Cooler RGB LED
GPU: RTX MSi 2070
RAM : 16gb Patriot 3200Mhz

I know your pain with mounting the wraith cooler. I've had to remount mine a few times since this weekend since i got my 2700x and it is such a pain. Hell the first time i removed it i could only get one clip off which you would think would give a bunch off slack to the other side but no. Ended up taking it off at an angle and bending two pins on the cpu. Even with both clips going down and flipping the retention arm it was not on properly the first time.
I suspect your heatsink (CPU cooler) is not mounted properly (tight enough contact). Do you have the variant that has four screws that are used to secure it to the motherboard backplate?
HI, no unfortunately the Wraith MAX has only these 2 hook in brackets which were very hard to attach :

I know you will hate this, but remove the heatsink and remount it. Seems it is not making contact.

Did the heatsink come with your 1600x or did you purchase separately?

I was afraid that is my last option before i go out and buy a new one, Ive never came across such a troublesome mounting procedure with the AM4 platform. Either way thank you for the help.
