just wondering how difficult it would be to queese ~200mhz out of one of these...

i would realy like the extra performance from the x2 4800+ but cant afford it. so would i be likly to have any problems reaching that type of OC on this chip?

p.s. i get the feeling its going to be a just do it response but i thought i would ask anyway :)

im looking at putting it on a BIT AN8 SLI Motherboard with a matched pair of corsair ram so i dont think that will limit me to much for a 200mhz OC.

but couldent i possable just up the muiltiplyer on the chip? or would that be a realy bad idea...

sorry for the dumb questions but i an realy a n00b when it comes to COing

A64's are multiplier locked upwards. So if the stock mult is 10, you can set to 2 or 9 or 10 but not 11.

AMD sells fully multiplier unlocked CPUs - they are the FX line and a dual core one hasn't been released yet. I understand its due out next month - 2.6ghz, 1mb L2/core supposedly.

Mike.

oh silly me...

oh well then i guess ill just run it stock cause trying to OC everything sounds much to daunting to me.

thanks for the help though

It's not that hard - I just cranked the FSB up to 220 and now my 4400+ is now a 4800+. No stability problems - everything works fine.
