AMD Zen 2 CPU in AM4 Gen 1 motherboard

If I install a new AMD AM4 2700 CPU in in first gen1 board x370 do I need to update the BIOS whilst I am still using the original CPU. Do I have to do it manually or will the MSI automatic update be able to flash it before I drop the newer processor in? Also, the name/number of the specific update would be a great help. Thanks.

You would need to update the BIOS before switching the motherboard. Can't really say which update for you to get (since I don't know the model of your Motherboard) to but the newest would be the best bet. Also it is recommended to use a flash drive with the file on it and reset to bios defaults before updating the BIOS.

Based on the compatibility information MSI provides you will need at least the 7A3V1E BIOS the newest is the 7A31V1F. So either of those would work, but it is usually recommended to use the latest firmware.
