I am about to buy a new PC. My main use of the PC is gaming. I'm not on a fixed budget but I don't want to spend money I don't have to. I have currently decided on getting:
ATI x800 pro
gig of memory
36gig 10000rpm boot HD and 160gig 7200rpm data HD

I cannot make up my mind on which CPU though...

3200+:
This is pretty fast and a great value at $279CND (canadian).

3400+:
This is $120CND more money than the 3200+, but faster.

3500+:
This is $110CND more money than the 3400+ (including extra cost for 939 mboard). It is faster, but not as much of a speed increase as 3200 to 3400. However it is on the new 939 mboard so you get the dual channel memory and cool'n'quiet feature which is nice.

Wait:
939 mboards are a little sketchy at the moment, and since these 939 cpus are new, I'd guess a price decrease is probably coming for both the new and old chips.

Every day I change my mind on what to get. Anyone got an opinion to help sway me to a decision.

Get the 939 CPU & mobo, it will support new processors that are not out yet and it offers dual channel like you said.

If money is not an issue, go for the fastest CPU you can get, if it is an issue, you can settle for 3000+ or less, as long as it is 939 on a good mobo from ASUS, Abit or Gigabyte.

Also, I would prefer to go with Geforce 6800 GT or Ultra, so maybe when going for 3000+ you can use the spare money for 6800 instead of X800.

Well, I hate to break anybody's heart, but that would be the 3.6ghz Prescott at the moment.

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

Sorry boytoy, you blew it again. There are currently no A64 3000s available for socket 939.
To rocket- The diference between 3200 and 3400, can be made up in OC, or even board tuning. Not worth the extra cash. I suggest the 3200, on an Asus K8N-E Deluxe mobo. You could waste the saved money on faster ram, or spend it wisely on a graphics upgrade. (X800XT)
