AMD's Ryzen 7 5700X3D, a great AM4 gaming CPU, is now only $229

Considering I bought my 5800X3D on launch day for 449.99 at microcenter, I would consider this a great deal indeed.
Right now, I'm trying to fight the temptation to get the following bundle:
  • 5800X3D
  • Asus TUF Gaming B550 Plus WiFi II motherboard
  • G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM Kit

for, $329.99, or, after the 10% break with the Insider Card, $296.99.

I have barely put my 5600X through any serious use, and I'm sitting there looking at that deal and thinking I really should take the hour long drive up there.

But, and I need to make this clear, mostly to myself: I. Do. Not. NEED. It.

Personally, when I take up such quandaries, I ask myself 'Is this going to improve my experience'? If yes, get the item, if not, then pass until the answer is yes. This assumes a financially responsible decision making aptitude.

I keep checking in on their 14700k price, twenty bucks under everyone else. But I will see what happens after 15th gen finally drops.

Their 7700X bundle is quite good at the moment too. 32GB of reasonable memory on an okay board.

There was a point that I would've allowed myself a bit of indulgence on this one.

BUT . . having been searching for a job for a few months at this point, well, my normal "let's try to be financially responsible" is settling more into a "let's try to be extremely financially conservative."

I'm not at all struggling at the moment, but, in this case, the caution is definitely in cahoots with my 5600X saying "man, the stuff you've made me do could've been done on that Athlon 200GE you've got!"
