The latest leak indicates AMD's upcoming socket AM5 will likely retain compatibility with all of the existing socket AM4 coolers, though AM5 CPUs could have TDPs of up to 170W.

Increasing the TDP from 105W (5950X) to 170W.....no bueno.

170W seems like enough TDP for a future 24C/48T Ryzen =D

I'm a bit skeptical since none of the leaked diagrams I've seen have dimensions indicated. AMD changed spacing of the threaded posts of the AM4 backplate from AM3 so it's possible AM5 could do the same. I recall the reason given was to allow for optimized DDR4 memory trace path routing...so might DDR5 require something different?

AMD did keep location of the tabs for the clip mounting the same at least.
