Dear reader,
I am using a desktop which has a motherboard manufactured by Foxconn company. Yesterday morning, I faced an issue that can be better illustrated: The screen showed the American megatrends at the top, and included the hardware information of the PC. Towards the bottom of the screen was the message of the "keyboard not found and mouse not found", followed by another line in red suggesting to press F1 for skipping. And that time, both the keyboard and mouse were not responding.

Following that, I checked my keyboard with my laptop and it was working properly. I also took my friend's keyboard but the issue was same. After that, I opened the PC and detached the CMOS battery and placed it again after 5 minutes. And I forgot to mention that, I also checked the voltage of the 3V CMOS battery, it was 2.3V which I thought was enough for good functioning. When I restarted the computer, the same screen was there and this time, two additional messaged were there saying: "CMOS setting wrong and CMOS date/time not set"

I am attaching here the screenshot of the issues which appeared on my screen and am hopeful that people reading this will provide me necessary guidance to make my desktop working again. Hoping for a positive response from yours side. Thanking everyone in advance.

Normally this means you have to use a PS/2 keyboard to enter the BIOS and turn on the USB Legacy Support in order for a USB keyboard and mouse to work.

2.3v for a 3.2v primary lithium battery is beyond dead, and problems can already show up by 2.8v. 3.0v is the "nominal" voltage which means the voltage at the halfway point of its life. That's why "3.7v" Li-ion is charged to 4.2v.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I will change the battery immediately. But I don't have a PS/2 keyboard to enter the BIOS so is there any other way of doing this?

Unfortunately no, and you'd probably want to keep a PS/2 keyboard around anyway or you'll run into the same problem each time the CMOS gets reset to defaults.

Usually a used PS/2 keyboard is about $2 locally, and even eBay is around the same price if you consider the included shipping is now ~$9. Or you could splurge on a nicer PS/2 keyboard and use it all of the time, as it uses less CPU than USB which can be a consideration for an old and slow desktop.

According to your suggestion, I will look for the PS/2 keyboard to solve the issue. Thank you once again for the valuable suggestion.

I replaced the CMOS battery with new one and started the computer but the issue was same. Again, I restarted the system and this time, my system was able to enter the bios and i made some changes and hence the system itself performed the troubleshooting and on its completion, my computer started again. Thank you for the suggestions.
