Hello, AMI Bios (2015) on Aoson R/12 Tablet PC. Not allowing boot to USB. Always attempts a boot from either corrupt Windows boot manager or corrupt UBUNTU 18 boot manager.

This system setup requires DEL or ESC and the "Boot From" menu requires F7 and is ignored if the choice is USB.

I've tried different USB drive formatting: FAT, FAT32 and NTSF - all to no avail.

The tablet has only one USB port so a 4 port hub is used to allow keyboard and USB drive at the same time. The result is the same with or without the hub. I've tried a Windows 10 Pro bootable USB (which works correctly on other PCs) also a bootable (created with Rufus) UBUNTU 18 and a WondowsPE USB drive. The system also will not boot to an attached USB DVD.

Backing up a bit: I was able to install UBUNTU when Windows was working - past tense. Windows was struggling with the battery and charging and would unceremoniously reboot/crash without warning. UBUNTU did not have that problem.

I called AMI but that proved to be an exercise in futility and Aoson is quite happy to pretend they didn't manufacture the tablet in the first place.

I have 2 of these Aoson R/12 tablets and they both exhibit the same issues.

Your thoughts and ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

If you can get to the bios, can you disable UEFI or put it into Legacy or legacy +uefi mode? Secure boot may also need to be disabled.

Thx. There is only one mention and it is a fixed field - "Compliancy: UEFI 2.3; PI 1.2". The word "Legacy" is nowhere to be found in the entire setup.Security boot is disabled (not configured)
