AMIBIOS

Hi,

Ive got a Tyan Thunder 2400 S2257 that I'd like to try and use 1.4Ghz
Tualatin CPU's with, but it won't even boot with one in it.

You guys are at the cutting edge so I figure that you've probably done this
sort of thing before.

Using amibcp75 I've managed to find another Tyan AMI BIOS with the Tualatin
CPU Microcode included, and extract it.

As the boards support different CPU's slot 1 and S370, I don't think I can
just replace one module with the other.

BIOSes are here

for my board: ftp://ftp.tyan.com/bios/S2257103.exe

and for the other board with Tualatin and Celeron support here:

ftp://ftp.tyan.com/bios/2080_110.ZIP

I've also extracted the current Boards Microcode, but don't know how to
merge the two to be able to re-insert the module. I've compared the two in a
hex editor and can see where the diferences start, but past that I'm out of
my depth.

Any tips or help appreciated.

Please reply to PM as well so I know to check back.

Many thanks

I don't think it is going to happen. Is the other BIOS even for the same
chipset? And there is more to supporting the Tulatin than just the BIOS.
If you really need a server board with dual 64-bit 66 MHz PCI slots and
dual CPU's, then do you really need to be monkeying around with BIOS and
motherboard modifications?

For communication,
replace "at" with the 'at sign'
replace "mindjump" with "mindspring."
replace "dot" with "."
