Hi,
I have a i7 7700k and a msi z270A-Pro motherboard. I have heard that i have a total of 24 Pci-e lanes.
I am using a gtx 1080 in a x16 slot and a wifi card in a x1 slot.
I am planning on getting a pci-e x4 nvme ssd.

Will i have enough Pci-e lanes?

Solution
That is theoretical only.
Actual available amount of PCIE lanes depend on slots available on specific motherboard.
msi z270A-Pro has
  • 1xPCIE x16 slot (connected to cpu),
    4xPCIE x1 slots and 1x PCIE x4 slot (connected to chipset).
    1x M.2 PCIE x4 (connected to chipset),
    and rest of devices like audio, network, sata, USB (connected to chipset).
So user accessible lanes on this board are 16+12=28.

So i have a total of 40 pci-e lanes?

Solution
chipsets allow limited number of configurations by software; for ex. a -x16 lane can be configured as 4 -x4 lanes, etc.
however the specific motherboard has been configured according to what is wired to connectors/slots;
the rest of the pci express lanes can not be accessed or used;
