Amount of RAM necessary for 4K output to TV

Hello,

I happened to read somewhere (which I obviously can't find now) that the amount of RAM could be a limiting factor for the output to a 4K tv. The idea is to buy a 43" LG tv to use as combined monitor and tv. Do I need to think of RAM when doing that? I'm getting a GTX1070 where I'll be using the HDMI port.

All input is appreciated!

I presume that you will install at least 8 GB of RAM in the computer, but 4K requires no additional memory when you use a discrete GPU. It does only when using processor graphics and it usually can't use more than 1 GB.

Yes, it will have 8GB:

My question arose because I'm not sure I fully understand the link between RAM in the computer and the output to a screen.

Thx. Yes, I was wondering if I should go 32GB instead of 16GB RAM.

Thx. I can understand that video editing could require the extra RAM. Not for outputting 4K.
