I don't have a preout or line out or any such things as that, And i'm trying to run subwoofer to my receiver but it doesn't not have enough power to run the volume all the way on high, So I was thinking of getting an amp but then recognized I don't have a pre out or line out or anything of that sort to hook up the subwoofer and the amp to the receiver, So I found this http://www.volutone.com/RUSS-ADP12-SPEAKER-TO-LINE-LEVEL-ADAPTER-P9009.aspx
And I don't have a slight clue about speakers really, So I was needing some help to figure out if this will work, And what's the best amp to get for this situation and if this will actually work or not! :)

Solution
active sub? passive sub? your receiver has a powered sub output or unpowered? what is your setup diagram/how are you connected? what mode/brand devices are you connecting? wattages? need more info.

a speaker to line level adapter is what you need to take input from a speaker output so that you can use it on devices expecting line level.

What do you actually want?
Good sound?
Or some hacked together pile of junk, pumped out through your superglued subwoofer?

If you were to start from scratch for actual reasonable sound, what is your budget?

Ok, Sorry that I didn't respond for a while.. Anyway, It's a kicker subwoofer 10 Inch 1000 watts I'm pretty sure. It's a very good subwoofer, And I use a speaker wire to power it, But I need more power for it by buying a amp, Instead of just a receiver because it can't handle it, But it can handle my 8 inch kenwood subwoofer though. The receiver goes into protection mode if I put it on to loud!

kicker... isnt that a car subwoofer? that is not going to connect up nicely as is.

if you intend to use that i'd get an amplifier meant for car audio (likely a 2ohm amplifier) and then use a speaker to line level adapter if your receiver outputs a powered subwoofer signal or if it outputs a line level signal just connect directly.
