Hi!

I have a custom built pc by a friend with a 650 watt psu, would a 13a fuse be too much or too little for the power plug? If so how many amps should i use instead?

Thanks in advance

Solution
I would guess you are on a 230 or 240 volt system.

650 watts @ 240 volts is 2.7 amps. Now computers need MORE power because some is wasted on conversion from 240 down to the required voltage for computers.

I would check the power supply manual to see what is recommended in your area.

What other sizes do you have 15 amp is standard here, but we only have 120 volts.

Since we do not have in plug fuses like you do, I am not the best person to answer this.

You seem to have 2 common sizes 3 amp and 13 amp. 3 amp is good for a bit over 700 watts. If your computer was pushed to its limits you may get past 700 watts at the wall.

I would say if you are worried, try a 3 amp and as long as it does not blow, you are good. Not too many computers draw over 700 watts at the wall.

A large fuse does not hurt the device, but in the event of a failure a device could draw well beyond what it should. I am kind of surprised you do not have more fusing options. Here I have all kinds of options, but 15A is the standard.

Most if not all computer power supplies should have a built in fuse as well(most modern electronics have some form of fuse build in.).

EDIT If that selected solution was a mistake, let me know and it will be removed. I hope someone else from your area chimes in too.
