I didn't like the choices I'd been given. I was asked to solve a theft
in the Skaal village. Rigor Halfhand had accused Engar Ice-Mane of
theft. Turns out Rigor had been lying, trying to get rid of Engar so he
could move in on his wife.
The Skaal punishment was either exile or being eaten by the Caenlorn
wolves. But you see, my problem with those two choices was that they
sounded extreme to me. After all, Rigor admitted the deception, was
sorry for what he had done, and showed tremendous courage in accepting
the death sentence as punishment.
So instead, I chose to kill the Caenlorn wolves myself, so that Rigor
would go on living. Then Rigor walked to the empty wolf-pen, and stayed
there. The chief didn't like that solution much, but he gave me the
next quest anyway, and he let me keep the Helm of the Wolf's Heart, the
reward for solving the crime.
Okay, that's the end of my comments. I'm just adding a note describing
how I killed the Caenlorn wolves, for those who hadn't figured it out
for themselves.
Note: I cast a Mark spell in the Skaal village. Then I went into the
Greathall, with Rigor following me, and I chose the wolves option for
his death. Then I recalled to the mark (so that Rigor couldn't follow
me) and stood on the fence of the wolf corral, and fired arrows at one
wolf at a time until they each died. (Each wolf tried to get out
through the gate so I stood on the fence on the other side of the
corral.) Then I went back into the hall to get Rigor. He followed me
outside and walked to the now empty wolf pen.
Cheers!
