An Issue With Resetting My Laptop

Virus's have been getting onto my laptop, some even managing to hack into my files and make them unable to open, so now I then went to reset it, and this pops up: "there was a problem resetting your PC no changes were made" and then I went to see the troubleshoot and nothing came up. Please respond ASAP I'm about ready to throw this thing away.

Also, my anti-virus aparantely worked horribly so can anyone recommend a good, -and free- antivirus/malware, etc...
