Have a fast HP Pavillion, 1gb RAM and Win XP media center, one year old. LCD monitor hibernates sometimes while in use. Switched to another LCD and it is starting to do the same. It is on an analog plug, don't have DVI. Is there a driver problem? Is there a Windows software fix? Worked perfectly the first full year. Both monitors work flawlessly on another machine.

Check the Power settings in Windows... your setting might have been corrupted and changed. That it is analog wouldn't affect.

I thought that too, Hose. Told my son to check that since it's his computer at college. Just emailed him. Strange though, it happens while he's using it.

It still sounds like the Power setting telling the monitor to turn off is corrupted... that kind of thing happens occasionally with all of the patches and updates we have to do.... seems to happen to me with email "authentication" switch getting flipped without my knowledge.

You might try System Restore back aways, or try various "turn off" times for the monitor and see if it changes... worst case would be to reinstall Windows.
