Hello,

I recently had a friend build a new desktop for me but i kept my old monitor. Whenever I try to play a game, sims 4 for instance, I get a black screen with this message " Analog Out of Range 67.3 khz / 60hz" Would using a VGA to HDMI cable help or my monitor just isn't compatible with my current video card?

my monitor is a : LG W1952TQ-TF

MB: Asrock z170 gaming k4 6gb
video card is Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 Windforce OC 6gb

well because no GeForce experts have come along though I currently don't have a GeForce card in your GeForce settings you should have individual games settings. make sure there is no refresh rate or resalutions set higher then your monitor supports. if you have global setting make sure there not set higher then your monitor can support. I know amd has it and theres prob a version of it in GeForce...in amd its called superscaling which allows the computer generate a image at a higher reslasution then the monitor can support then downgrades it to display it. you could disable that setting. I wish I had a GeForce card again so I could help you better with the settings. good luck.
it means the game is trying to switch to a resolution or freq the monitor does not support (usually higher).

just wondering did he run the games with a better monitor hooked up before handing it to you? if so you might have to uninstall and reinstall the games or manually correct the games resalutions defaults

also if your running windows 7 or higher I would install your monitor driver from http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-W1952TQ-TF.AUSMAPN even though its for windows 7 it should work on 8 or 10 because basically a monitor driver just tells the system what resolutions and freq your monitor supports so it doesn't try using a bad freq

He did not run any games before he gave it back to me. he just turned it on to make sure everything was working. I tried installing the drivers but the link from the website seems to be broken.

Update - some games that were working before, AC: Black Flag and BF Bad Company 2, are now giving me analog out of range. Would I just be better off buying a new monitor that can handle the frequency/video card? or I would have this issue with any monitor?

If I should get a new monitor are any of these good?
