Hi Guys,

My current turntable setup is as follows:
  1. Audio Technica LP120
  2. Connected via RCA to this digital converter https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DHPHIJQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  3. Connected to my home theatre receiver via optical cable (receiver only has digital inputs) link to receiver/speaker setup https://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/SC-HTB770.html

My question is, am I losing a lot of the audio quality by not have an entirely analogue system for the turntable? Receiver also outputs my TV, NVIDIA Shield TV & Xbox so would be good to have everything on the one but would I be better off with a decent budget set of powered bookshelf speakers that the turntable connects directly with?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Can you expand on this?
The vinyl advocates would say that by converting to digital, the "warmth" of analog is lost. Digitization is only an approximation of the analog waveform. That approximation is what is considered loss by analog zealots. Your 16 pound converter is functional, but how good the digitization of the signal is is unknown.

That's a soundbar it's not a receiver, a proper receiver would have inputs for a record player.

The thing with audio there is not always a "better" thing, a lot of times it's just different and you need to decide if you like it better than the other setup. Would you like some other speakers better than the soundbar? Maybe. Need to try it. The audio converter from the record player to digital will definitely change the sound, but if it will be "better" without it, you just need to listen to the other way.

If you want the best record analog sound that in theory wold be better than your setup, then yes nice powered speakers like the Swan or Edifier models should sound better than going through a digital converter to a soundbar.
