And I was worried about content

My contacts basically stopped talking to me mid-37, and one had the
gall to say she won't talk to me until 39.

So....I was worried that I'd find nothing to do but team and do other
people's missions.

The I made 38, and a new mission appeared: Talk to the Sewer Security
Chief.

I had been in the sewers earlier, when I was hunting lost for badges,
and TOTALLY forgot about 'The Abandonded Sewers'

Hop into Steel, take a quick right and go down 1 extra level.

Now, mind you, these are not mission spawns so they are not affected by
the "mission slider".

First group right at the door:
2 lvl 36 (conn orange) Man O' War, 4 lvl 37 (conn yellow) Protean, and
3 lvl 36 (conn grey?) Spawns

Thank you Honeymooners!

By the time I get down far enough into the lower levels, I should pick
up enough xp on NORMAL spawns to at least hit 39....maybe 40

Who needs the streets when you have the sewers.

Where's the Lysol? 😉

With the Striga Isle content at those levels shouldn't be an issue. I3
was great.

Thinking back though, don't you get a bunch of new contacts at 20. I
seem to remember ones that wouldn't talk to me till I hit that mark.

I kinda had that problem last night with my Scrapper.

I'm going the Striga missions, since I've seen a lot of the 20-30 old
content with my Blaster, but a bubble off 23 last night (after grabbing a
pair of friendly fire tanks to help me take down Maestro) I finished off
the second contact's missions and the next Striga contact wasn't going to
talk to me until Level 25!

So I headed off to Talos to run some 'old' missions.
But then about 1/2 way through level 24 my brother logged in and asked if
I wanted to go WL hunting. Which is when I realised the fantastic xp you
get from them. Duoing I was getting about a 1/12 of a level per Lord.

2 hours later, one and a half levels later, I'm now set to head back to
Striga. Wonderful, wonderful XP.

Soooo boring, though. Pound pound pound (repeat 937 times), wow, XP.
Next WL, pound pound... bleah. They're tough, but may as well be Lab
Equipment or Trees of Life for all the excitement you get.

True, they're not challenging (at least, not for my Scrapper...my Blaster
has been a lot more careful when fighting them).

Still, I was happy to grab the xp to be able to continue my Striga
adventures, which I what I was focusing on.

(I don't have time to run Task Forces very often, otherwise I'd have done
the 1st Striga one instead but I've no idea when I'll next have the time
for one of them.)

Yeah, I hear you on this. I've only run into one serious mission
drought, around 20-21 IIRC, and I had to slowly street-fight my way up
to 22 or whatever and get new missions. Had a couple of slight droughts
a few bubbles short of level since then, but nothing I couldn't get
past.

And I rarely have time for TFs or the other high-XP games. Bummer.

I tellya, though, with 6-slot Hasten/Health/Stamina and now Rage
slotting up, I can rip through XP like I wouldn't have believed. I'm up
in Blaster damage territory with Tanker resilience... fun. I suspect it
will even out in a few more levels.

<SNIP>

I started Bourke on Thanksgiving Day, and got him to 37 just running
missions and the TF one time each.

I didn't hit the dry spell until 3 bubs into 37.

But I usually ran 3 missions at a time, or 2 arcs and a regular mission.

I tried to avoid the 'street sweep' missions when they were offered, and
they didn't come back after a while.

But, sadly, I had to street hunt (first time for everything) when they
dried up. So I hunted FF and Bricks till 38. Then they offered me the
'clear the sewers of 40 Rikti'. And the Rikti are in 'The Underworld' so
I'll have that mission running for a while.

When I get on again, I'll check the contacts again, and see if they have
opened any missions, but their bars are full to the right on all of them.

Wheich brings up another point!

The contact in FF that is still offering me the DE ArchVillian arc, I only
did 2 of hers (both lawyers) and she is full to the right. I find that
strange.

Just keep doing them, she'll eventually run out (even if they seem like

Once a contact starts offering you a story arc, he or she will offer
it to you indefinitely. What's worse, it will count as one of the two
total arcs you are allowed to have open simultaneously. Which means
if you're not careful, you can end up getting no arcs at all for a
dozen levels...and then have to go back and do a zillion outlevelled
arcs before you can get any current ones.

Basically, don't ever take the street-hunting missions unless it's all
that's available. Take the indoor and arc missions as they're offered.

I've been getting really spoiled by the WoW approach - you
get 20 "quest" slots, and if you find that you need a quick
one when you're full up you can abandon one and then revisit
the issuing contact to get it back.

I see there are no boss difficulty roll-backs on live yet -
I'm starting to think that CoH doesn't WANT me back... which
I guess is fine with me now that my paladin is getting close
to the free warhorse at level 40. Somehow I feel better
about the intellectual honesty of killing a foe, skinning
it, and eating it, than I ever did about the "no no, you're
ARRESTING them" comic book mind set.

There is life after Paragon City. Life and mithral. Life
and mithral and naked dancing elves...

That's much better. More flexibility in the mission system would
be very nice in Paragon City.

Heh... yep. We katana slice, shotgun-blast and burn them into
"submission." Then we do something that teleports them to
somewhere that we couldn't just do until they were gutted I mean
dismembered I mean crispy-fried I mean defeated.

I'm glad it's there for when I do finally get tired of the life
of a MMOG hero.

Personally I'd rather see less dancing (almost) naked elves in Paragon
City. At least now you can throw snowballs at them.
