One of my mother's colleagues received a call from her boyfriend today. With
the squeals of delight coming from the other side of the office, Mum rushed
over to ask what was going on (thinking perhaps he'd proposed over the phone
or something). Turns out he'd bought her a new graphics card and doubled the
RAM in her system so she could play TS2, which her boyfriend's son (paper
rounds must be paying well these days...) had bought her for Christmas. I
just hope the processor's up to snuff or she's going to be in for an
extremely frustrating time.

Maybe I should mention this group to her... If she starts Homecrafting, or
downloading, he'll never see her again! I wonder how soon it will be before
we see The Sims being cited as reason for divorce? "She cared more about her
computer boyfriend than she did about me!"

Actually, it's an excellent male geek mating method. If you are the guy that
can upgrade and maintain a woman's computer so she can play Sims, she's
gonna find you pretty attractive. Then she'll stick with you because she'll
be simming, not going out to meet new guys. And as an extra, added bonus,
she doesn't need you to listen to her talk about her feelings, because
she'll be simming. The only drawback to the geek male is that cooking and
dishes will still be his to deal with.
At least that's how it is in my household.
