Question Android box

Hello, i have been seing these android Tv boxes for cheap on Ebay and Bangood https://www.banggood.com/HK1-Mini-R...31.html?rmmds=search&ID=3426&cur_warehouse=CN

My question is what is the difference between having this box and having a smart tv and a smartphone, does the Android Tv box have any features that i couldnt do with my phone and smart tv?

Usually people bough those in days of the "pirating". But nowdays since you have netflix and other streaming services for dirt cheap it is not worth it anymore.
