Judging from the comments on the Google app page, many people are having problems with E-Mail app version 6.0.02.12.
From having made multiple support requests to Microsoft, Samsung and Verizon, I've been sent down several dead ends and found that support reps are better at asking questions, and found that those reps prefer to blame other companies rather that solve problems.
In short, I try to set up a Microsoft E-mail account using the stock Samsung app, but it fails with a "can not validate account" error. The account name and password are correct, and the account name and password work on a desktop computer.
Meanwhile, anyone have an idea what is going on?
