Andy bug and other stuff?

Hi,

I was wondering how the Andariel bug works? As far as I have read, I've
just to kill him once and speak to somebody in camp, and then he will drop
his "first drop" every time? Until when is this valid?

My level 75 Throwbarb and his HF merc have some real probs killing Andy at
/players 1, though. Merc dies 2-3 times during the fight, even when his
resists are maxed at 75. Any good tricks here?

And finally, so far it hasn't been worth the effort. After 3 tries, I
didn't get a single unique or rare.
The last try he dropped an Isenhart's Case and I found another one in a
treasure chest. I thought a specific rare can only drop once in a game?
Well, I now have found 2..

Thanx,

Oliver

First off, specific rares and even uniques *can* drop more than once
in a game, it happens to me all the time (and not just in AR, where in
Act 1/Normal there are enough forced drops of unique, low-level rings
that it almost *has* to repeat). Second of all, Isenhart's is a set,
and the Case drops so frequently I'm surprised you've *only* found 2
;-)

Are you talking about SP? Maybe we can make an appointment, so that you
start a multiplayer2 game, give me your IP number, and I'll come in with
a skelliemancer who provides LOTS of meat wall, so that it should be no
problem to dispose of *her* (that beast is female, probably a bloated
version of a succubus)

The real problem is: I read my mail only once daily, at about 4 pm.

thanx for the offer, but its not really necessary. I could make a TCP/IP
game with 2 sessions on my machine here, and get my level 88 necro or
level 89 Throwbarb in to help.

Andy *her*self is not really a problem, but when she is accompanied by 3
or 4 other bosses, it can get tough.

As she is not fire immune, I could call in my Enchantress and give my new
Throwbarb a nice boost..

Anyhow, everybody's been talking nicely about her "first drops" being
unique and set items and lots of them.. So far, in 5 runs, I've gotten
Isenhart's Case and Sigon's Sabot boots...

Mebbe I've somehow deactived the bug. Or I should try another map seed..

Regards,

Oliver

AFAIK you have to talk to somebody in the camp every time you have
killed her. Once you forget it she won't have a quest drop any more,
only her normal ones.

Her poison attacks can hurt quite a bit. Would it maybe make sense to
fill one belt column with antidotes and feed them to the merc
inbetween (shift+belt slot number)?

She might be offended by you thinking she is a man.

Uniques are supposed to drop only once per game, this does not apply
to sets (green lettered name). Concerning rares (light yellow lettered
name), it would really make me think if I found two rares with the
same name and the same mods.

AH! That's because rares are unique <G>.
And wasn't the "only once per game" for uniques a pre 1.0x(?) feature?

Ok - I'm pretty sure that 'bug' is now obsolete - but there is another
way to get first kill drops from Andariel. If you start the game with
a character who needs the quest (in, say, nightmare difficulty -
because that's the highest chance of a soj dropping from her
f'rinstance) then join that game with a chr who can kill her easily (I
use a teleporting blizz sorc) but DO NOT PARTY the two, then when your
killer does the deed, you will indeed get 'First Kill' or 'Quest'
drops. Rinse and repeat.

Works in any difficulty too

Server side patch, Realms only. Same as the FE 'bug' fix. Both still
work in SP.

And for the other bosses, too, if I understand it correctly.
