The entry-level, to pro, to max changes are quite extraordinary, in a way that makes saying “My Mac has an M3 inside” almost meaningless.

It always meant about as much or as little as saying "I have an Alder Lake CPU in my PC." There's a wide range of Alder Lake models - it could be an i9, or even a dual-core Pentium Gold G7400.

However, in both cases (be it M3 or Alder Lake), it says something about what kind of cores you have. For lightly-threaded tasks, that's significantly determinitive of performance.
