annoying black patches/boxes on firefox/chrome

I have a hp pavillion ab221tx laptop that runs on a core i5 5200u processor and has a nvidia geforce 940m gpu.

I am getting black patchy boxes frequently, whenever i open a web browser (firefox or chrome) & also when I right click on something inside the browser.

I have tried reinstalling the updated chipset/gpu drivers, installing different versions of firefox after a clean wipe but I have failed to get rid of this issue.

Can anybody please help?

You need to reinstall your graphics drivers with a proper clean install

I have tried doing so but it did not resolve the issue

Might try toggling (turn on or off hardware acceleration -- Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
