Hey guys
I just bought an RTX 3080 GPU, coming from a GTX 1080. What an upgrade, so impressed with FPS in games!
But just with my old GPU, I also experience this completely annoying coil whine while gaming.
The coil whine comes when not in game lobbies or menus, but when the actual game starts, where you can actually play.
I game with stereo speakers, so I hear the high-pitched coil whine pretty clearly.
It's hard to tell, where the coil whine is coming from exactly. But it seems to be in the region of the GPU and the PSU.
I really want the coil whine to go away or at least be fairly noticeable to my ear. I am aware that coil whine is more or less normal and not harmful, but I also feel that it can be corrected somehow.
Since the coil whine is present, even with the new GPU, could it then be the PSU? I'm not just going to replace the PSU or any other PC component for testing purposes. I would rather have the coil whine pinpointed, so I can make a correct fix.
I am willing though to replace any PC component regardless of cost (more or less) if it means a reduced/vanished coil whine.
Concretely I was thinking of upgrading the PSU to a platinum PSU with 850w or 1000w, with better internal components, than my current PSU. but would it actually reduce the coil whine?
It's my hope that some of you guys are hardcore experienced in this matter and could potentially lead me in the right direction of a fix, based on my PC specs, listed below.
I have not overclocked anything. I have very good airflow in the Fractal cabinet, with 4 Bequiet wings.
