Alright so i bought a Antec Sonata 2 case, it came with a single 120mm fan, but the case has room for 1 more at the front of the computer. So i went on the net and bought a Thermaltake silent wheel http://www.xoxide.com/thermaltake-silent-wheel-130mm-fan.htmlTo fill up my 2nd 120mm slot.
When i got it I discovered that instead of having a normal fan connection, it used a 3-pin connector (the mini kind) and the only place i could hook it to on my motherboard was too far away from the back of my case.
Now here is the issue - I cut the tips off both the fan's power connector and a a normal 5 pin or w/e PSU line so i could wire the lines together (and by doing so hooking it directly to a powersupply line instead of going through the motherboard.) I completed this sucessfully and the fan spins HOWEVER when i place my hand next to the fan i cant even tell that its spinning, as if there is almost zero airflow - which is odd becuase it is rated at 54.4 CFM
Any ideas on where i went wrong?
